Soloist
Bob Kuebler first played bassoon with Symphony West in 1972 when it was known as The North Olmsted Community Orchestra. Bob rejoined the orchestra in 2001 as 2nd bassoonist and saxophonist. During the 29 year hiatus, he performed as a reed player in hundreds of community theater performances. He served as lead tenor sax during the first 5 years of Gabriel’s Horns, a praise jazz band.He has taught band and orchestra at Incarnate Word Academy where his group received a superior rating in the OMEA band competition. This accomplishment earned the group a special invitation to perform with the All Catholic Orchestra.In 2006 Mr. Kuebler retired from the Cleveland Municipal School District having taught reading, science, computer lab, and general music. While at Stephen E. Howe School, he earned the “Golden Apple Award” as “Teacher of the Year.”Since 1999 “Mr. Bob” has taught piano and woodwinds at Broadway School of Music and the Arts in Slavic Village. Currently he is an assistant band instructor at Orchard Middle School in Solon.He received “Runner of the Year” awards with two running clubs. In 1987, Bob joined 124 other invited runners in the “Ultimate Runner” competition held in Jackson, Michigan. This year, as a member of Springbok Track Club, he became National Champion in the 10K for the 70-74 year age group.
Children's Choir
Christine S. Kilbane is a teacher at Chestnut Intermediate and Spruce Elementary Schools in North Olmsted, where she directs two choirs, two orchestras, two bands, and also teaches general music. She earned a B.A. in Music from Hillsdale College and an M.M.Ed. from the University of Tulsa. A member of The American String Teachers Association, Mrs. Kilbane has been teaching for over 30 years, 27 of those in North Olmsted.
Mrs. Kilbane is the proud mother of five children and grandmother of one. She lives in North Olmsted with her cats Bravo and Bizet, and teaches private violin lessons in her home studio.
The students in the choir performing tonight with Symphony West Orchestra are fifth and sixth grade members of the Chestnut School Eagle Choir.
